This is sort of an outward-looking version of the frustrations and confusion expressed in "Trespasser." I'd be prepared to accept that my difficulties had something to do with my own self; I'm hardly objective in that regard. But I saw my friends and peers, as smart and capable a group of people as I ever expect to meet, languishing in underemployment and existential dread. It wasn't just me -- something went seriously wrong. If it's saddening to have it happen to you, it's sickening to watch it happen to everyone else.

the salt of our love
