about

This is the sequel to "Torch Song." The answer was no.

This is probably the most abstract song -- lyrically, anyway -- that I've written. Lots of free-associations on the Problem of Evil. It might not make any sense to anyone else, but somehow that doesn't bother me very much.

lyrics

this is the place
where things get lost
without a trace
without a cause
I'm saving grace
at any cost
I love the way
you laugh it off

I'm wide awake
I see how far
I am a wake
I'm a funeral car
the chosen make
their lucky stars
that they can thank
when skies go dark

here they come
the worst shotgun sins
that I have ever seen

I don't believe
this is the best
we can receive
we are so blessed
who starts to grieve?
who pounds their chest?
I turn to leave
you do the rest

here they come
the worst shotgun sins
that I have ever seen

and here He comes
with pitch-black satin skin
that I have never seen

about

The Napoleon of Crime Washington, D.C.

"He is the Napoleon of crime, Watson. He is the organizer of half that is evil and of nearly all that is undetected in this great city. He is a genius, a philosopher, an abstract thinker. He has a brain of the first order . . . My horror at his crimes was lost in my admiration at his skill." -- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, "The Final Problem" ... more
