Here we look for personal connections of the sort abjured in the previous song. Dangling from a perilous height serves as a metaphor for isolation/loneliness/jackassery/what-have-you. I've picked up a few lessons about building crunchy pop songs from Bob Mould and I think I put pretty much all of them to work on this one.
